Senator Lieberman – What are you Doing?

Rachel Maddow recently reported on her news program that Senator Lieberman pledged in 2006 to support and pass “universal health care” in the U.S. Who funds Senator Lieberman’s campaigns? Well, there are many insurance companies in Connecticut. Could there be a connection?

Well, what happened in just 3 years to Senator Lieberman? Has Senator Lieberman forgotten his campaign promises?

This is a unique time in our history in the U.S. If the democrats have more guts, they would be able to pass legislation to enable all Americans to have excellent health care. Lack of health care creates suffering for families and actually puts a strain on the entire health care system when people wait until it is sometimes too late to deal with health issues. Thus, forcing them to over-utilize emergency services in hospitals that drive up costs of health care for everyone.

Wouldn’t it be better to have a comprehensive program that covers everyone in America?

One Response to Senator Lieberman – What are you Doing?

  1. euandus2 says:

It is no accident that one Senator can be an obstructionist. He, and the filibuster for that matter, remind us that the governmental sovereignty allowed the state governments is what is really represented in the US Senate (unlike in the US House of Reps). As frustrating as it is, there is a trade off in wiping this out in favor of remaking the US Senate on the basis of the principles of the US House…trade offs given the scale of the US. and what the US is. For this argument, pls see http://euandus3.wordpress.com/2009/12/14/will-there-be-a-health-reform-bill-out-of-the-us-senate/
